SR Pick [Video]: The Brocial Network
0
Sometimes it feels like everybody has made a parody or mashup of famous movies -- even we’ve taken a stab at it with the Toy Story 3: Inception trailer. But a group of “bros” at Atomic Productions put together the most impressive trailer remake we’ve seen in quite some time. An ode to The Social Network‘s trailer, the group made a hilarious parody of college life as they see it with The Brocial Network.
In this parody, the filmmakers put maximum effort into properly re-creating the atmosphere and tone of The Social Network. Only this time it is set at the University of Texas and deals with…less impressive students.
The quality of The Brocial Network blows a lot of other parodies out of the water, but it isn’t perfect. It could use some trimming at times -- which may ...

Summit Picks Up Frankenstein Origin Story, ‘This Dark Endeavor’
0
Who out there has always wanted to learn more about what exactly drove Victor Frankenstein to become the brilliant but maniacal scientist who sought to defy death in Mary Shelley’s classic horror novel? Kenneth Opel did at least, and he organized his thoughts on the matter into a book he dubbed This Dark Endeavor, which will be published this summer.
Summit Entertainment has won the movie rights to Opel’s work, which is fully titled This Dark Endeavor: The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein. The studio has brought onboard a specialist (or something like that) in the field of teens, romance, and the supernatural to produce the pic, in the form of Karen Rosenfelt (Twilight).
Deadline broke the news about Summit’s acquisition of This Dark Endeavor, an action-adventure tale that follows a young (presumably, adolescent) Victor ...

‘Lie To Me’ Season 3 Ends On A High Note
0
Last night, FOX’s cult series Lie To Me completed is third season with “Killer App” an episode involving a Facebook-esque plot that brought a darker tone (and murder) to some of Aaron Sorkin’s story elements from The Social Network.
While much of Lie To Me can be considered a proverbial stage for Tim Roth to show off his talents as one of television’s most skilled thespians, the season 3 finale took a step back from Roth’s scene-stealing portrayal of Dr. Cal Lightman and allowed co-star Kelli Williams to shine as Dr. Gillian Foster.
Despite Williams continuously adding rich depth to her character – and to an extent Roth’s character – she’s rarely had the opportunity to take the lead, both in character performance and storyline focus. Highlighting elements from Foster’s past, while providing wonderful backstory to ...

William Petersen Returns To ‘CSI’
0
Though he left the show early in 2009, William Petersen and CSI producers have said he would return to his role on occasion. Now, the original cast member will reprise his famed onscreen persona, Gil Grissom, in a CSI cameo which is scheduled to air this week.
The episode entitled “The Two Mrs. Grissoms” revolves around Gil’s onscreen wife Sara (Jorja Fox) investigating a murder at a school for the deaf. During the course of her sleuthing, Sarah runs into her semi-estranged mother in-law, Betty Grissom, played by Phyllis French (ER, L.A. Law).
It seems Betty, a professor at the school, is none too fond of our gap-toothed heroine, feeling her son would be better off with someone else, someone with a little pedigree, someone like Academy Award-winner Marlee Matlin—and who can blame her. Matlin, keeping it ...

David O. Russell Wants Scarlett Johansson For ‘Uncharted’ Movie
0
It seems most everybody wants Scarlett Johansson (keep reading…) to star in their next film, and David O. Russell is no exception. The Fighter filmmaker is in the midst of developing his Uncharted adaptation and has mentioned the blonde bombshell as being on his wish list to star.
Fans of the original PS3 title Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune have been vocal about their displeasure concerning Russell’s decision to cast Mark Wahlberg or deviate significantly from the game’s plot by adding a family dynamic. Bringing Miss Johansson onboard, however, is one move that’s unlikely to upset them too much.
Uncharted protagonist and treasure-plunderer Nathan Drake (Wahlberg) is accompanied on his adventures by the reporter/journalist Elena Fisher – the role Johansson would play. Miss Fisher is not only a match for Drake in terms of spirit ...
