USA is preparing a pair of new series for this summer, in addition to an already packed schedule of established shows. Suits will premiere June 23rd, with Necessary Roughness following on June 29th.
Suits is the new name for A Legal Mind, a pilot that USA picked up from writer Aaron Korsh (The Deep End) and producer David Bartis (Knight Rider 2008). It follows a top-notch New York corporate lawyer who recruits a brilliant college dropout. Both must keep up appearances to keep the slacker’s past buried.
Gabriel Macht, who starred in The Spirit and Love and Other Drugs, plays Manhattan lawyer Harvey Specter. Patrick J. Adams, who’s had bit parts on NCIS, Lie to Me and FlashForward plays Specter’s new associate. Suits follows USA’s penchant for typical television scenarios turned ...

Broadway stage musicals-turned-movies were all the rage in the wake of Chicago‘s critical and financial success back in the early-2000s, what with The Phantom of the Opera, Rent, and The Producers all hitting theaters within a year of one another. Fast forward to 2011 and we’ve got more on the horizon – including (it seems) an American Idiot movie.
The tunes of punk rock group Green Day provide the basis for American Idiot, which looks to be scripted by Oscar-winner Dustin Lance Black – the fellow behind Milk and the upcoming biopic J. Edgar.
Deadline says Universal is negotiating to turn American Idiot into a feature-length film, with the original stage musical’s director, Michael Mayer, at the helm. Tom Hanks and his Playtone partner Gary Goetzman optioned the show last year, so a cinematic adaptation of ...

0

The scene opens on field video of an American strike team storming a Middle East compound. In a clear allusion to the capture of Saddam Hussein in 2003, a bearded and starving prisoner is lifted out of a spider hole saying “I’m an American.” The scene shifts to a domestic ...
