8-minute trailer for girl with the dragon tattoo starring rooney mara and daniel craig

Late author Stieg Larsson’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a worldwide phenomenon at this point, having sold millions of books and spawning to sequel books which were then adapted into a trilogy of Swedish films that have earned considerable profits at the worldwide box office. So, given that impressive history it’s hard to imagine that there are people out there who don’t know what the dark world of Larsson’s books are all about.

As director David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club, The Social Network) prepares to launch his own adaptation (not remake) of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, it has become apparent that there is indeed a considerable section of the American moviegoing population that needs to be ...

Dexter Season 8 Series Finale

What is to become of Darkly Dreaming Dexter? While the future is still murky for TV’s favorite serial killer, one thing is for certain – the end is nearer than some might have thought.

Nearly two weeks after Showtime announced that Dexter would be returning for at least two more seasons, network president, David Nevins, has confirmed that the writers and producers are in the process of outlining an end date for the fan-favorite series – specifically that season six will set the stage for a season eight series finale.

starship troopers movie reboot

It’s apparently only a matter of time before director Paul Verhoeven’s entire filmography (not to mention, every cult sci-fi title from the 1980s and ’90s) gets rebooted for the 21st century.

The Starship Troopers property began as a novel written by Robert A. Heinlein, published in 1959. Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters cast - Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton

Arguably, the most “unorthodox” fairy tale re-imagining due out in 2012 is not Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman; rather, that label belongs to Paramount Pictures’ Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters (no colon in the title, says the studio) starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as grown-up versions of the famous siblings.

This particular Brothers Grimm-based project cost some $60 million and was shot in 3D on location in Germany, under the direction of Tommy Wirkola, the filmmaker responsible for Kill Buljo: The Movie (a.k.a. a Norwegian parody of Kill Bill) and the winter-set Nazi zombie exploitation flick, Dead Snow.

If that doesn’t sound strange enough: the plot of Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters revolves around adult versions of the eponymous duo, who have matured into highly-efficient bounty hunters that ...
