Brendan Meyer starring in Ender's Game

The Hunger Games movie may be making all the headlines these days, but another popular YA series turned movie tentpole, Ender’s Game, is slowly making a splash of its own.

The Gavin Hood-directed feature is based on the first in a series of books by Hugo and Nebula Award-winning writer, Orson Scott Card.  The books feature a dystopian future in which the Earth has suffered multiple attacks from an alien race. As a result, adults begin to teach kids to fight off the aliens at an elite training academy.

Reports state that Canadian teen star Brendan Meyer has joined Ender’s Game.  He joins Hugo‘s Asa Butterfield who stars as Ener Wiggin, and Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit). Sir Ben Kingsley is also rumored to co-star in an unspecified role.

‘Wrath of the Titans’ Trailer: Gritty Fantasy Violence & Actual Titans

0

When Battle: Lost Angeles director Jonathan Liebesman was brought on to helm Warner Bros.’ Wrath of the Titans, a sequel to the 2010 Clash of the Titans remake, he expressed a desire to fashion the mythological sequel as more of a truly grounded, down n’ dirty swords & sandals epic (in the vein of filmmaker Ridley Scott’s Gladiator).

Today, we have some official posters/banners and a teaser trailer for Wrath of the Titans – and while they both feature CGI creatures and bombastic action aplenty, there’s definitely a much more textural and unpolished look to this action-packed first look at the film (which even includes actual Titans).

Here is the official lowdown on the Wrath of the Titans, which takes place a decade after the events of Clash:

Dangerously weakened by humanity’s lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father ...

[Update: We have a second reel of preview footage to share!]

In 1979 Ridley Scott’s Alien changed the world of cinema with its blend of sci-fi and horror. Over thirty years later, the multi-Oscar-nominated director returns to the genre(s) he helped redefine with Prometheus, a sci-fi/horror tale set within in the same cinematic universe as Alien - though Scott and Co. have promised that this is no mere prequel.

Now fans have the chance to see where the old and new elements of Scott’s sci-fi/horror universe converge and diverge, thanks to the debut of the official Prometheus trailer – which will be arriving in just a few days’ time. Until then, we have a preview of the trailer, featuring some new footage and a word from Sir Ridley Scott ...

New "Knight Rises," "Titans" Trailers Hit

0

We had a fairly obtuse teaser back in July, now the proper and revealing second trailer for "The Dark Knight Rises" has gone online in high def after several days of screening with copies of "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" over the weekend.

The new trailer gives us plenty of looks at Tom Hardy's Bane character, a great line from Anne Hathaway's Catwoman (sans costume), and brief glimpses of Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Matthew Modine's characters. There's also a big money shot involving a devastating explosion.

A third trailer is expected to be released in the first half of next year, the earliest would be with "Wrath of the Titans" in late March, but more likely it'll be out early May when both "The Avengers" and the Warners-released "Dark Shadows" hit cinemas.

Watch the new trailer now at Apple in HD or via streaming below:

Also out today is the first trailer for "Wrath of the Titans", the sequel to the "Clash of the Titans" remake from 2009. It would appear they've ditched all pretension about trying to follow Greek mythology - this really is "God of War" the movie.

There's lots of CG giant monster on monster action and 80's porn star hair - the not taking itself too seriously actually makes it look more palatable than the highly disappointing first 'Titans'.
