anne hathaway catwoman dark knight rises

Recent conversations concerning The Dark Knight Rises have largely focused on the film’s main (bulky) villain Bane, touching on subjects like his mask-muffled voice, unsightly skin blemishes, and just why exactly director Christopher Nolan selected him to be the primary antagonist in his final Batman movie.

The full-length Dark Knight Rises trailer also provided a better look at one of the film’s more mysterious players: Anne Hathaway as the sultry Selina Kyle/Catwoman, an anti-heroine who (in keeping with her comic book origins) looks to oscillate between being a self-serving criminal and a comrade of Christian Bale’s Caped Crusader – depending on the situation.

Hathaway’s Catwoman costume has drawn the ire of (and praise from) many a fan, in part because of accessories like her (potentially deadly) stiletto heels and advanced techno goggles that, when ...

Loki in the Russian trailer for The Avengers

Marvel is back again with another international sneak peek at their upcoming superhero mash-up, The Avengers, this time offering a Russian voice-over and, once again, bits and pieces of new footage.

While the footage here is very similar to the German Avengers trailer (which also featured new clips), the new preview does offer a few notable moments of video – specifically a solid shot of Loki’s grittier Avengers look.

Preview marketing for 2012 has reached a fever pitch with tremendous buzz surrounding several notable trailers. First, The Dark Knight Rises prologue wooed moviegoers into paying premium IMAX prices for their Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol tickets. However, those who weren’t fortunate enough to see the film in a 70mm IMAX format ...

Given the Occupy Wall Street movement and public sentiment toward corporations and individuals with seven-figure salaries, the cultural atmosphere for Showtime’s new series House of Lies seems just about right – despite the irony of the program airing on pay-cable. Still, in an effort to build buzz before the January 8 premiere, the network is tossing the 99% a bone by offering a glimpse at the first episode online.

Described as a dark comedy centered on a big-money consultant team headed up by Marty Kaan (Don Cheadle), the series is based on the book House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Then Tell You the Time by Martin Kihn. In addition to starring, Cheadle will be executive producing alongside creator and writer Matthew Carnahan and ...

The Most Pirated Films Of 2011

0

The end of year is always a time for list articles on film sites. Some offer practical and interesting analysis like 'best film' lists. Most however are quickly pulled together inane padding designed to keep the 'torch lights burning' as there's really no news to report over the next fortnight.

So here's another for that pile, a list that Hollywood wishes didn't exist - the most pirated movies of the year list. TorrentFreak has released its top ten most downloaded movies worldwide of 2011 with "Fast Five" winning the pack.

Approximately 9.26 million copies of the film were downloaded over the year. Not far behind in second and third were "The Hangover Part II" and "Thor" with 8.84 million and 8.33 million respectively. All kicked off the Summer film season and so all have been around longer which explains their higher download count. Here's the full list:

  1. Fast Five - 9.26 million
  2. The Hangover Part II - 8.84 million
  3. Thor - 8.33 million
  4. Source Code - 7.91 million
  5. I am Number Four - 7.67 million
  6. Sucker Punch - 7.2 million
  7. 127 Hours - 6.91 million
  8. Rango - 6.48 million
  9. The King's Speech - 6.25 million
  10. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 - 6.03 million

Box-office is definitely not an indicator of pirate interest. Both "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" and "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" failed to crack the Top Ten whereas under performers like "Source Code," "Sucker Punch" and "127 Hours" managed to make it. Also F5's count is decidedly down on that of "Avatar" which was downloaded more than 16 million times last year.

Also Torrent Freak has released its list of the most pirated TV shows of the year. The Top Ten are: "Dexter," "Game of Thrones," "The Big Bang Theory," "House," "How I Met Your Mother," "Glee," "The Walking Dead," "Terra Nova," "True Blood" and "Breaking Bad".
