Kristen Wiig Enjoys Walter Mitty’s "Life"

"Bridesmaids" Kristen Wiig has joined the cast of the latest film version of James Thurber's short story "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" at 20th Century Fox says The Hollywood Reporter.
Ben Stiller stars in and directs the story of a timid magazine photo manager who daydreams of exciting adventures. While looking for a missing negative, he soon ends up on an adventure of his own.
Wiig would play a co-worker and the woman of his fantasies. The project marks Wiig's first major studio effort since "Bridesmaids" as her last two jobs have been the indie features "Imogene" and "Revenge of the Jolly!".
Shooting is slated to kick off in April in New York and Iceland.

Michel Hazanavicius’ "The Artist" walked away with three trophies at the London Film Critics’ Circle Awards last night, winning for film of the year, director and best actor (Jean Dujardin) says Variety.
Meryl Streep ("The Iron Lady") and Anna Paquin ("Margaret") tied for best actress while Michael Fassbender ("A Dangerous Method" & "Shame") scored best actor. Supporting nods went to Kenneth Branagh ("My Week with Marilyn") and Sareh Bayat ("A Separation"). Olivia Colman ("Tyrannosaur" & "The Iron Lady") and Craig Roberts ("Submarine") took home acting awards as well.
"We Need to Talk About Kevin" scored British film of the year and "Senna" best documentary. "A Separation" won best foreign film and screenplay while Andrew Haigh won breakthrough British filmmaker for "Weekend".
The news comes after the announcements of the nominees for the 2012 Orange British Academy Film & Television Awards (BAFTAs) on Tuesday.
"The Artist" scored 12 nominations, "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" scored eleven, and "Hugo" took nine. 'Artist' & 'Tinker' will compete with "Drive", "The Descendants" and "The Help" for the Best Picture award.
Stamp, Winnick Receive "Black Marks"

Terrence Stamp, Chris Diamantopoulos, Katheryn Winnick and Kenneth Welsh have joined the cast of heist comedy "The Black Marks" for Dimension Films and Darius Films says Heat Vision.
Kurt Russell plays a third rate motorcycle daredevil and semi-reformed art thief who gets back into the con game to pull off one more art theft with his untrustworthy brother Nicky (Matt Dillon) and old gang.
Stamp will play an ex-art thief, Diamantopoulos a master forger, Winnick is the daredevil's dubiously loyal girlfriend, and Welsh the elder statesman of the gang.
Jonathan Sobol directs, Nicholas Tabarrok is producing and shooting began this week in Ontario, Canada.

1. Veteran actor Tommy Lee Jones will join Lost’s Matthew Fox in Emperor, the new film from director Peter Webber. The Oscar-winner will portray General Douglas MacArthur in the film, which is set in the aftermath of the Japanese surrender in WWII.

CW Orders Pilots for ‘Sex and the City’ Prequel & ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Remake

After announcing last week that a pilot has been ordered for the Green Arrow TV show, Arrow, it appears that the CW is attempting to purge any remaining expectations of machismo programming by announcing today that they have greenlighted pilots for the long-awaited Sex and the City prequel Carrie Diaries, as well as a remake of the 1980s Beauty and the Beast series, Beast.
Carrie Diaries, which is based on the Candace Bushnell book series, will explore the life of small-town girl Carrie Bradshaw in the 80s, as she makes her way through high school – and all the complications that come with it – in an attempt to fulfill her dream of becoming a writer.
