Added to the growing list of upcoming remakes and reboots is Carrie, a re-interpretation of Stephen King’s psychological horror novel, which was the basis for the famous 1976 film by Brian De Palma.
Last we heard about this new Carrie was that Boys Don’t Cry director Kimberly Peirce was in talks with MGM/Screen Gems to helm the project, which was written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Glee, Big Love, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark). Today, we have word that Pierce is indeed taking the directors chair, as well as a shortlist of young actresses who are close to snagging the role.

The impending Wrath of the Titans may prove to be a worthy challenger for The Hunger Games, as far as the battle to top the box office goes next weekend. Its predecessor (the Clash of the Titans remake) was far from a critical smash, but it still managed to gross nearly half a billion dollars around the globe in 2010 – and, judging by early responses online, there’s very much a crowd interested in watching a second round of mortals battling Greek monsters and gods alike.

‘Les Misérables’ Set Photos: Russell Crowe as Inspector Javert
0Paparazzi pics continue to flow from Pinewood Studios over in Buckinghamshire, which is housing the sets for The King’s Speech director Tom Hooper’s cinematic treatment of the award-winning Les Misérables Broadway stage musical. The latest images leaked from the prestigious production reveal Oscar-winner Russell Crowe in costume as the rigidly authoritative Frenchman, Inspector Javert.
The central unifying narrative thread in Les Misérables concerns Jackman as Jean Valjean (who was imprisoned for stealing food for his starving sister and her family) and Crowe as Inspector Javert, a ruthless police officer who becomes obsessed with bringing Valjean “to justice,” after he breaks parole. The two engage in a cat-and-mouse game that unfolds over the course of some 17 years, culminating with the June Rebellion (an anti-monarchist uprising) in 1832.
Besides Crowe in costume, these new Les Miz images also offer a somewhat better look at the 19th-century French aesthetic and decoratives that make up the film’s setting ...
