After having spent more than a decade writing for and partially (or fully) running TV shows like Becker – along with such critical darlings as HBO’s The Sopranos and AMC’s Mad Men (the latter he created) – Matthew Weiner is finally ready to make his feature-length directorial debut with You Are Here, based on his own original screenplay.

You Are Here is a passion project that Weiner wrote the earliest script draft for some eight years ago, during his pre-Mad Men days. Gilbert Films (The Kids Are All Right) is backing the venture, which is scheduled to begin principal photography in South Carolina this May – with a cast that officially includes Owen Wilson and Zach Galifianakis, but also looks to add SNL/Parks and Recreation alum Amy Poehler in the near future.

trailer for Rise of the Guardians Movie (2012)

In Dreamworks’ Rise of the Guardians we get a new spin on the classic figures that shaped our childhood, such as Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, Sandman and Jack Frost. That new take involves these “guardians” of childhood dreams banding together to stop an evil spirit called “Pitch” from taking over the world.

While it sounds a bit on the silly side, today’s trailer for Rise of the Guardians actually looks rather epic and visually splendorous.

ridley scott prometheus interview

Excitement is sky-high right now for director Ridley Scott’s return to the realm of horrifying science-fiction with Prometheus. The marketing campaign for the movie has done an excellent job of playing it up as a darkly gorgeous, yet disturbing blockbuster that further explores the Alien universe (prior to the events of Scott’s original 1979 film) – but has more than a few tricks up its sleeve, with regards to its plot twists and previously-unseen extraterrestrial monsters.

Naturally, everyone wants to hear what Scott has to say about the project. Today, we’ve rounded up a couple of recent interviews with the filmmaker that focus more on aspects like Prometheus‘ rating and 3D effects – and (thankfully) not just the exact nature of this movie’s connection the larger Alien franchise.

Here’s what Scott says about the rating for Prometheus (via

The 10 Best Characters in The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games opened to explosive box office numbers over the weekend. Both fans of the novel and newcomers to the story rushed to theaters to see the much-hyped blockbuster, which was praised by movie critics – including our positive official review – and moviegoers alike.

With such a strong cast and so many wonderful characters, we decided to create a list of the 10 best characters in the story. As a fan of both the movie and the book by Suzanne Collins, I used both as references. And although there are many differences between the two, the movie did a solid job showing the main characters and even adding depth to a few of the supporting ones, including a few who made this list.

‘The Dictator’ Trailer Reveals a Riches to Rags Story

The Dictator Trailer Sacha Baron Cohen

Sacha Baron Cohen has grown into a solid actor (see: Hugo), but his greatest talent still lies in creating satirical caricatures like Ali G, Borat and Brüno. Cohen will be back in caricature for The Dictator, in which he plays “General Aladeen,” a ‘heroic dictator who risks his life to ensure that democracy never comes to the country he so lovingly oppresses.’

Today we have the new trailer for The Dictator, which reveals a twist to the story: apparently, the film will be about more than just Cohen running around as a dictator who uses his wealth and power in selfish, megalomaniacal ways.

See what we mean by watching The Dictator trailer below:

This film is offering more than it initially seemed to with the ...
