In Magic City it appears to be a running theme that explores the notion that although Ike Evans (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) is, for all intents and purposes, a self-made man, his success suffers from the unavoidable interest of those who helped him make such a rise to prominence.

1. Sony Pictures and Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment are in early negotiations to pick up the rights to Allen Zadoff’s young adult novel Boy Nobody. It is hoped that it will lead to a starring role for Jaden Smith.

Sam Raimi to Produce ‘Poltergeist’ Remake

Even as Hollywood continues to be racked with remake/reboot fever, there have only been rumblings here and there about the Poltergeist remake. That’s quite the change from three years ago, when the project was briefly scheduled to hit theaters in 2010 – only to end up being delayed indefinitely.

That looks to change, now that Sam Raimi is committed to producing (but not directing, as some news sources have been reporting) a revamping of the 1982 supernatural horror flick, which was directed by Tobe Hooper and based on an original story conceived by Steven Spielberg.

David Koepp in Talks to Write ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ Sequel

Long before the general public would decide whether or not Snow White and the Huntsman is something they’re even interested in seeing, producer Joe Roth (Alice in Wonderland) revealed that plans for the film to kick off a trilogy were already being developed.

Universal Chief Ron Meyer has since talked up the idea that the fairy tale-inspired project could give rise to a full-blooded, fantasy epic franchise. As further proof still that the studio heads are serious about this idea: Deadline is reporting that Universal has begun talks for David Koepp to pen a followup.

For those (few?) who don’t immediately recognize his name, Koepp has helped script installments in seemingly every other Hollywood tentpole franchise over the past two decades – including, Jurassic Park, Mission: Impossible, Spider-Man, Men in Black and Indiana Jones. In ...

Nick Nolte Swallows A "Bitterroot"


Nick Nolte is reportedly circling "Bitterroot", a Black List script by Michael Gilio which is set up and is being fully financed at Annapurna Pictures reports Variety.

The story follows an aging Montana rancher who is scammed out of his life savings. Unable to locate the swindler, the rancher packs up his guns and rides his horse into Bitterroot to get his money back.

Gore Verbinski and Jonathan Krauss will produce.
