Welcome to Screen Rant’s “Geek Picks,” where we collect the finest movie-related geekery from around the web for you. Today you’ll find Yoda slippers; Star Wars cupcakes and cookies; Starfleet cufflinks; and The Avengers as Minions. All that and more on this edition of SR’s Geek Picks!

To kick things off Yoni Brenner has an excerpt from the long lost version of Battleship written by William Shakespeare. This could’ve been Shakespeare’s greatest work if it was discovered sooner! I bet if they had based the film off of this it would’ve turned out much better. 98% on Rotten Tomatoes!

New ‘Django Unchained’ Images; Trailer Attached to ‘Prometheus’

Footage from Quentin Tarantino’s Southern-set nod to spaghetti westerns, Django Unchained premiered at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival – and reactions were overwhelmingly positive (to what was shown).

Django Unchained is still in the middle of principal photography, but new images from the film have already sprung up online – along with word that the teaser will premiere in front of Ridley Scott’s Prometheus.

Tarantino’s latest creation is an amalgamation of Blaxploitation and Sergio Leone Western tropes, seeing how the plot of Django Unchained follows an ex-slave named Django (Jamix Foxx) who is shown the ropes of bounty hunting by Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) – an eccentric foreigner who is perplexed by the ways of the pre-Civil War South. As Foxx recently told Empire, though, the empowerment angle of the story is only part of what attracted him to the project:

Django, Les Mis, Jack Reacher Trailers Soon

0

While critics in Cannes fell all over themselves to breathlessly report on the first footage from Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained", the rest of us will get a first glimpse of it sooner than expected.

Several sources are citing that the trailer will debut in front of "Prometheus" on June 8th, though there is no connection between the two films beyond a likely R-rating for them both. A couple of new photos also premiered this weekend at Cinema Teaser.

More certain however are some other new trailers set to hit in the next week or two, said trailers having been recently approved by the Albertan Government's censorship board.

These include a 110-second first trailer for the Tom Cruise-led Jack Reacher movie which is officially listed as "Jack Reacher" (and not "One Shot"), a 91-second first trailer for "Les Miserables", a 144-second first trailer for Robert Zemeckis' "Flight", an 82-second second trailer for "Premium Rush", and a 147-second second trailer for "The Bourne Legacy".

Finally, though it's not in cinemas, new footage from "The Dark Knight Rises" will be screened next Sunday during the MTV Movie Awards.
