Woody Allen Casts Andrew Dice Clay & Louis C.K. in Untitled Movie

Woody Allen knows a thing or two about comedy. Before writing, acting and directing such films as Manhattan and Deconstructing Harry, the award-winning filmmaker found notoriety as a successful stand-up comedian. In 2004, Allen placed fourth on Comedy Central’s list of 100 greatest stand-up comedians. So, yes, Woody Allen knows a thing or two about comedy – and when casting for his latest film, Allen recruited two of the most well-known stand-up comedians in recent history.

According to THR, Allen has added both Andrew Dice Clay and Louis C.K. to an already-impressive cast for his latest untitled film. The movie, which will film this summer in both New York and San Francisco, will also reportedly feature Cate Blanchett (Hanna), Peter Sarsgaard, Michael Emerson (Lost) and Alec Baldwin. Director Steve McQueen has pulled together quite the impressive cast for his new project, Twelve Years a Slave. The true-story slavery drama will be headlined by Chiwetel Ejiofor (Serenity, American Gangster) with support from Brad Pitt and rising stars Michael Fassbender (Prometheus) and Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock).

Among the additional side players previously confirmed for Twelve Years a Slave are acclaimed character actors/actresses like Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood), Adepero Oduye (Pariah), Scoot McNairy (Killing Them Softly), and Ruth Negga (Love/Hate).

‘Django Unchained’ Trailer Preview: Tarantino’s Gun-Slinging Slavery Tale

Anticipation is high for Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, which sees the acclaimed director of films like Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill and Inglourious Basterds turning his love of cinema towards the spaghetti western sub-genre pioneered by directors like Sergio Leone (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly). In true Tarantino style, the usual conventions of the genre have been thrown out and replaced with a revenge tale set in the old American south, which is sure to stir up more than a bit of controversy.

The Django Unchained trailer will debut with the U.S. premiere of Prometheus in a few days - but as is now customary for big tentpole flicks, a preview of the preview has been released first.
