‘Django Unchained’ Trailer: Tarantino’s Violent (and Funny) Slavery Revenge Tale

0

Django Unchained sees acclaimed director Quentin Tarantino busting into the spaghetti western sub-genre that was pioneered by directors like Sergio Leone (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly). In true Tarantino fashion, the usual conventions of the genre have been thrown out and replaced with a revenge tale about a freed slave named Django (Jamie Foxx), who is looking to also free his wife (Kerry Washington) from bondage (the slavery kind, and quite possibly the kinky S&M kind). Set in the old American south, this film has been expected to stir up more than a bit of controversy with its violent revisionist fantasy.

The Django Unchained trailer is now online, and while the film clearly has both the controversial and violent elements that many expected, the level humor and oddity may take some people by surprise.

As we’ve said before, we got a look at the Django ...

Michael Bay directing Transformers 4

It’s been quiet on the Transformers 4 front ever since it was confirmed that Michael Bay is returning to direct the film. We know that TF4 will be bringing back fan-favorite robots but also introducing new characters (human and mechanical); it will be released in 2014; and the story will be a ‘more serious sequel’ that will set up a new story arc.

While doing an interview with Hero Complex about the new Transformers theme-park ride at Universal Studios, Bay also dropped a few updates about how Transformers 4 is taking shape.

Bay stated in the interview that Transformers 4 will be his last film in the franchise, and that he will leave things properly arranged for “the next guy” to take the reins. In addition to the declaration that part four is ...

Thanks to The Avengers, a foundation for “Phase 2″ of Marvel’s shared movie universe has been solidified. Next year, the solo superhero films Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 will build off that groundwork, followed by Captain America 2 in 2014 – along with other films that have yet to be officially announced. (Although, Ant-Man and Black Panther are both looking like strong contenders at the time of writing this.)

Production has begin on the Iron Man threequel, while the Thor sequel is slated to being shooting later this year. We previously heard rumblings that the second Captain America movie could likewise start filming before year’s end. Now that the film has secured a director(s), there’s a greater chance of that happening.

Marvel previously settled on a shortlist of directors for the ...

New ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ Clip is All About the Web-Slinging [Updated]

[Update: Scroll Down for a second Amazing Spider-Man clip!]

One big difference between director Marc Webb’s approach to The Amazing Spider-Man and director Sam Raimi’s approach to the original Spider-Man movie trilogy, is that Webb has been adamant about using practical effects and stunt work wherever possible – as opposed to the CGI Spider-Man that was heavily relied on in Raimi’s films.

We saw plenty of high-wire stunt work during the filming of Amazing Spider-Man - and today we have a clip from the film that shows one of the exact sequences captured in those set photos. So, is Webb better about conveying Spidey’s web-slinging acrobatics onscreen? This clip would certainly suggest so.

Here, Spider-Man actually looks like a guy in a suit (with mechanical web-shooter devices) trying to get used to this whole “web-slinging” thing. It’s clear that there’s a live actor onscreen, and the movements look ...
