For a minute, it seemed as though Prometheus buzz was beginning to die down – now that the film is out and critics (read our review) as well as audiences (join our spoilers discussion) have shared their opinions on the film. However, a new viral video (with two more en route) seems to indicate that 20th Century Fox might still have a few more surprises in store for fans of Ridley Scott’s return to the Alien universe – since the film will have a presence at Comic-Con (despite sitting in theaters for nearly a month).
Now that the film has proven to be a box office success, could Fox be teasing the inevitable Prometheus sequel that Scott and writer Damon Lindelof have been discussing in interviews – or possibly one of the famed auteur’s Director’s Cut rereleases? Probably not.
While it’d certainly be exciting for ...

Tyler Perry Working On An Original Sci-Fi Film
0
It’s hard to believe that Tyler Perry has only been making films for seven years. Beginning with Diary of a Mad Black Woman (which he wrote, but did not direct), the actor/writer/director/mogul has released around a dozen movies of his original creation (For Colored Girls, being the exception); not to mention, his short-lived Meet the Browns television spinoff and successful House of Payne series. Perry’s detractors haven’t exactly softened their stance toward his art, but his target audience, as a whole, remains pretty much as loyal as ever.
Perry is pulling out his famous (career-defining?) grandmother drag outfit for this week’s release, Madea’s Witness Protection. However, it appears that he could abandon his old bag of tricks on a future project – an original sci-fi movie, to be exact.
Blackfilm sat down for an interview with ...

Rumor Patrol: Captain America 2 Characters & S.H.I.E.L.D. Connection
0With Captain America 2 securing a 2014 release date – the first Spring release date for Marvel Studios – and recently hiring directors, it’s time for the news and speculation to shift towards characters and stories. More than Iron Man 3 and Thor 2, the Captain America sequel deals with the direct aftermath of The Avengers.
Captain America is now in the modern era and known to the world. He has to become reacclimatized to society after being on ice for 70 years, while at the same time serving as a soldier of S.H.I.E.L.D. to protect it. The sequel is in the very early stages of production, but if the latest rumors can be believed, Captain America 2 may explore the stories of more characters than just its titular hero.
There’s been quite a lot of talk about a Black Widow film for Scarlett Johansson, even some chatter about a Hawkeye spin-off, but neither ...

‘Lost’ Director Jack Bender Developing ‘Devolution’ from ‘WWZ’ Author Max Brooks
0
You may not recognize Jack Bender’s name, but there’s a good chance you’ve seen some of his television work. Over the past 15 years, Bender has directed episodes of Felicity, Judging Amy, Alias, The Sopranos, Alphas, and Alcatraz. However, his most prolific stint to date was on Lost, where he directed some 37 episodes – and served as a co-showrunner throughout the show’s original run.
Bender was attached to direct Paramount’s Jack Ryan reboot last year, but has since passed on the gestating project (and was replaced by Kenneth Branagh). That may be for the best, as Bender is now working on Devolution: a film that could be more up his alley, judging by the writing talent involved.
Heat Vision reports that details on Devolution are being kept under wraps, but that “the ...
