Anthony Mackie in talks to play Falcon in Captain America 2

Marvel is fresh off a successful appearance at Comic-Con 2012, where the studio premiered several mouth-watering items for its geek fanbase. That included: Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man test footage, an Iron Man 3 sizzle reel, confirmation on a Guardians of the Galaxy movie arriving in 2014, and new titles for its sequels, Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Fans has been speculating that Captain America 2 would feature a Winter Soldier storyline for quite some time, going back to when it was announced that Sebastian Stan had signed a multi-picture deal with Marvel to portray Steve Rogers’ brother-in-arms Bucky Barnes (who became the aforementioned brain-washed, cybernetic super assassin, in “Captain America” vol. 5, #1, released in 2005).

Juliet Snowden and Stiles White to write and direct Ouija movie

The Ouija board game movie has evolved from an effects-driven, family-friendly supernatural adventure directed by McG (Charlie’s Angels, This Means War) to a low-cost, high-concept, ghoulish scarefest along the lines of the Paranormal Activity franchise, throughout the course of development.

Universal dropped Oujia, then reacquired the project nearly six months later. The studio is currently working with Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes and producer Jason Blume (Paranormal Activity, Insidious) on the film. It’s unlikely the budget for Ouija will be inflated again, in the aftermath of Battleship‘s under-performance at the box office.

Variety reports that Juliet Snowden and Stiles White have been hired on to rewrite and direct the Ouija movie. There is no indication as to how much (if any) material will be carried over ...

Pacific Rim at Comic-Con 2012

Legendary Pictures held their first ever Comic-Con panel last year where they briefly detailed four of their early-in-development high concept fantasy and sci-fi films. One of those was Pacific Rim from Comic-Con regular Guillermo del Toro and he’s back this year as Legendary and Warner Bros. team to showcase the film.

Del Toro shared the stage in Hall H at Comic-Con 2012 with Pacific Rim stars Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, and Ron Perlman, among others. After the presentation, Con attendees were treated to an early look at another upcoming Legendary project involving giant monsters: the Godzilla reboot.

Legendary head Thomas Tull kicked off the Pacific Rim panel, just before Guillermo del Toro made his appearance onstage (to rapturous applause). Meanwhile, on the three surrounding screens, the audience was treated to various pieces of behind-the-scenes footage and ...

Drew Roy Noah Wyle Connor Jessup Moon Bloodgood Falling Skies Homecoming

Striking the right balance between characterization and the progression of plot can sometimes be a tricky endeavor. So when Falling Skies sets out to develop the notion of a skitter rebellion headed up by Red-Eye, there needs to be a certain amount of leeway with some of the characters. This is handled easily enough with unreliable characters like Ben (Connor Jessup), whose motivations can be chalked up to moody teenager just as easily as they can be attributed to the spikes sticking out of his spine.

However, when it comes time to indicate that a character with a more nuanced arc like Captain Weaver (Will Patton) would willingly allow his beloved 2nd Mass to nearly strand themselves in ...

Don Cheadle War Machine Armor

What’s better than a team of Earth’s Mightiest superheroes that includes a man in an armored suit? A team of Earth’s Mightiest superheroes with two men in armored suits. The Avengers focused on the core heroes from the Marvel Studios franchise who’ve each had the chance to star in their own films, adding a few secondaries in non-powered characters from the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization (Black Widow & Hawkeye).

With “Phase Two” of the Marvel cinematic universe officially beginning with Iron Man 3 - as outlined during the Marvel Studios Comic-Con 2012 panel along with announcements for the upcoming slate of film – there are going to be more characters available to fight the good fight come time for the next epic team-up in The Avengers 2.
