The Amazing Spider-Man topped the box office over the weekend grossing an estimated $65 million, for a powerful six day cume of $140 million. It’s a great number – but you must remember that Sam Raimi’s trilogy each debuted to $114 million, $88 million and $154 million respectively over their first weekends at the box office. However, a mid-week launch for this latest web-slinging adventure throws these numbers into a different realm. It’s still a good start for the reboot which has had mixed reviews (read ours). Globally the superhero film has grossed $341 million.
