This weekend Disney’s new tale of the secret world of arcade video game characters Wreck-It-Ralph opens in theaters. Rich Moore (TV’s The Simpsons, Futurama) directs a voice cast that includes John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jane Lynch and Jack McBrayer in a film that takes the viewer through the dynamic landscapes of games ranging from classic 8-bit to an explosive first person shooter.

We had the chance to sit down with Wreck-It-Ralph himself, John C. Reilly, recently to talk about what drew him to this project in particular when he has been somewhat resistant to animated films in the past, how he helped to develop the character of Ralph/what he sees of himself in him and what he learned from Sean Penn about the importance of having another actor to work with – even when shooting one side of a telephone conversation.
