Netflix is getting in on the Margaret Atwood novel adaptation game in the wake of Hulu’s acclaimed “The Handmaid’s Tale” series.
The first photos are out from this Fall’s “Alias Grace,” an event series adaptation of Atwood’s novel which has been adapted by Sarah Polley (“Away from Her”) and directed by Mary Harron (“American Psycho”).
The true story tale follows Grace Marks (Sarah Gadon), a young, poor Irish immigrant and domestic servant in Upper Canada who – along with stable hand James McDermott (Kerr Logan) – finds herself accused and convicted of the infamous 1843 murders of her employer, wealthy farmer Thomas Kinnear (Paul Gross), and his housekeeper Nancy Montgomery (Anna Paquin).
The project will debut on CBC in Canada on September 25th, and arrive around the globe in the fall via Netflix.
