After delays and much secrecy, CBS have just revealed our first full look at the upcoming “Star Trek: Discovery: series. The trailer marks the first footage since the ship reveal back at San Diego Comic Con last year.
Set before the events of the original series, the story follows the crew of the titular Federation starship, helmed by Captain Lorca (Jason Isaacs), from the perspective of its First Officer, Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin Green).
The clip offers a look at new uniforms worn by a pre-Kirk Starfleet, and hints at the Klingons. There’s a definite “Enterprise” meets nu-Trek feel to this, as opposed to a genuine successor to “Star Trek: The Next Generation” or “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” which – combined with a not well-edited trailer – feels like a step back.
Along with the trailer, CBS has also announced that the show’s episode order has been upped from thirteen to fifteen episodes. At the same time, an accompanying aftershow called “Talking Trek” will be crafted to air alongside it.
“Star Trek: Discovery” aims to premiere in the Fall.
