HBO has premiered a first look photo of Al Pacino in character as football coach Joe Paterno for the Barry Levinson-directed feature on the premium cable service.
The as-yet-untitled film centers on Paterno who, after becoming the winningest coach in college football history, is embroiled in Penn State’s Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse scandal which challenges his legacy and forces him to face questions about institutional failure.
Also starring is Riley Keough as journalist Sara Ganim who first reported on the scandal, and Annie Parisse will as Joe’s daughter Mary Kay Paterno.
The project marks the third Pacino/Levinson collaboration for HBO following the Jack Kevorkian biopic “You Don’t Know Jack” and the Phil Spector biopic.
