Following rave reviews, awards and good sales for his 2015 interactive video investigation game “Her Story,” British indie video-game director Sam Barlow has set up his next project with Annapurna Pictures’ recently formed games division Annapurna Interactive.
Titled “Telling Lies,” the game will follow the same interactive-movie format as “Her Story” but on a much larger scale, and with more locations and higher production values. The new one hopes to cast Hollywood talent for what’s dubbed a political thriller with 3-4 key characters. The tone is described as Coppola’s “The Conversation” meets Steve McQueen’s “Shame”.
Scripting is currently underway and filming aims to begin either at the end of this year or early next. Annapurna Interactive, which released its first title “What Remains of Edith Finch” in April, will directly handle and oversee all production tasks for the live-action video component.
