Tyler Perry has signed a multi-year content deal with Viacom with the plan to include TV series, movies and short-form video under a deal that extends through 2024.
Perry is still under contract with Oprah Winfrey’s OWN for television, but from May 2019 he will produce approximately 90 episodes annually of original drama and comedy series for BET and other Viacom networks.
Effective immediately, Paramount Pictures gets first-look rights for any new feature film concepts created by Perry. Viacom also gets the exclusive distribution rights to Perry’s short-form video content.
