Sicario screenwriter Taylor Sheridan says that the script for Soldado makes the first movie look like a comedy. Sicario, which was helmed by acclaimed director Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners), didn’t break box office records when it released in 2015, but its haunting representation of the United States’ War on Drugs, coupled with expert performances by the main cast — Emily Blunt (Kate Mercer), Benicio del Toro (Alejandro Gillick), and Josh Brolin (Matt Graver) — were convincing enough for the studio to commission a sequel, titled Soldado.

The Aspern Papers
Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Jon Kortajarena, Poppy Delevingne, Morgane Polanski, Alice Aufray, and Barbara Meier will join Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Vanessa Redgrave and Joely Richardson in Julien Landais’ period drama “The Aspern Papers”. Landais, Jean Pavans and Hannah Bhuiya co-wrote the script and filming is underway in Venice.
An adaptation of the Henry James novel, the Venice 1885 set novel follows a young writer (Rhys Meyers) fascinated by iconic romantic poet Jeffrey Aspern as he strives to get his hands on the letters Aspern wrote to his beautiful mistress Juliana. Decades later, Juliana (Redgrave) lives in a Venetian palazzo with her niece (Richardson), whom Morton tries to seduce. [Source: Variety]
Warner Bros. Pictures has picked up Mark Townend’s sci-fi thriller spec script “Augmented” with Margot Robbie and Denise Di Novi attached as producers. Carmen Lewis, Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara will also produce and the storyline is currently being kept under wraps. [Source: Heat Vision]
