In the “X-Men” comics, the character of Storm has had a few romances, notably Black Panther and Forge. However, in the films, Halle Berry’s version of the character proved oddly sexless without a romantic subplot.
Speaking with EW this week, Berry was asked to offer something that she knew about Storm, but that nobody else knew. She revealed that her and co-star Hugh Jackman came up with an elaborate romantic back story that saw Storm and Logan getting down:
“Storm and Logan used to be lovers, It’s true. Storm and Logan had a thing … I joke in the movies, I’m like, How come nobody’s loving on Storm. Like what’s wrong with Storm? Nobody is checking for Storm .. So, we decided that Storm and Logan had a thing, and then Jean came and messed that up … When he really decided that Jean Grey was his love that caused a problem … The having two girls at once thing, that didn’t work for Storm.”
The connection has never been teased in any of the X-Men or Wolverine films bar a cut scene from “X-Men: Days of Future Past” where Storm gets a passionate kiss goodbye.
Unfortunately both Jackman and Berry, who did get to have some flirtatious onscreen chemistry in “Swordfish,” are done with playing their X-Men characters for now.
