Amazon Studios has canceled its latest period drama The Last Tycoon after the series debuted only a couple of weeks ago. Loosely based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s unfinished book of the same name, The Last Tycoon was picked up in July 2016 and premiered this past July with a star studded cast including Matt Bomer, Kelsey Grammer and Lily Collins.
The series centered on the battle between Monroe Stahr (Matt Bomer), who is loosely based on the famous producer Irving Thalberg, and his boss/mentor Pat Brady (Kelsey Grammer) in 1936 Hollywood.
