Paul Feig still wants to make a sequel to his 2016 Ghostbusters reboot. It was a long road getting another Ghostbusters movie made following 1989’s Ghostbusters II. That movie came five years after the enormous success of the original, but the cast and crew considered the movie a one-off. The subsequent success of The Real Ghostbusters cartoon and assorted merchandise led to the studio pushing for a sequel, but it was released in a crowded summer period that included Batman and Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade, so it wasn’t quite as profitable.
